RECYCLED CONCRETE PRODUCTS

Bottom Ash

Bottom ash is a by-product of the coal burning process. Once extracted, cooled and conveyed, it is used to make concrete, bricks and other concrete-based materials.

At Recycled Concrete Products, all our aggregates are completely recycled, including our bottom ash. Here’s why you should always choose a premium-grade recycled bottom ash aggregate available from Central Coast and Newcastle’s Recycled Concrete Products for your next project.

But first, what is Bottom Ash?

Bottom ash is part of the non-combustible residue of combustion in a power plant, boiler, furnace or incinerator. In an industrial context, it has traditionally referred to coal combustion and comprises traces of combustibles embedded in forming clinkers and sticking to hot side walls of a coal-burning furnace during its operation.

What are the uses of
bottom ash?

Bottom ash is used to make concrete, bricks and other concrete-based materials. It may also be used as raw alternative material, replacing earth or sand or aggregates, for example in road construction and in cement kilns (clinker production). Another use is as growing medium or soil compound used in horticulture (usually after sieving).
